Civilian Conservation Corp Photo - 1937
Dad belonged to President Roosevelt’s 1930s Civilian Conservation Corp administered by the U.S. Army. He was a cook and stationed in New Mexico. They built parks and roads and many other public use facilities. It was a jobs program that paid little but put a lot of people to work during the great depression. That’s him at the far left of the wooden frame. He would have been 20 at this time.
